The moms of Apple Tree School appear knowable. The yoga-pants-wearing stay-at-home mom. Her iPhone-dependent working-mother counterpart. The wife of a local celebrity, whose primary concern seems to be selecting the color theme for her son’s birthday party. If you look closer, though, you'll see that appearances are deceiving. Each mom has a secret that’s becoming harder to keep. As the moms keep up with their families and the families around them, plot twists and turns compel them to face the question, “What really matters to me?” The supporting cast of characters will further captivate readers with their own personal puzzles, from the double-life-living "Grammy" to the Apple Tree School teachers whose passion for teaching equals their passion for each another. Author Melissa Leddy delivers a first-rate short fiction story in the style of Tom Wolfe, with his interest in brand names and pop culture, and her themes evoke those of Meg Wolitzer motherhood, family, identity.

The Moms eBook Melissa Leddy Bethany Starin

I don't want to bash an author for their efforts because I have much respect for the courage and creativity it takes to write an entire book, but unfortunately this story was lacking.
It was a simple short story about the lives of few moms but I just finished reading it and am just thinking okay, what did I just read? What was I suppose to feel? There were insignificant parts and I'm not sure why they needed to be in the story? This felt like more of introduction to the characters but I'm still not sure why I should care about them or want to know more. I hate that it was such a disappointment but it was free so I can't be upset. I'm just not really into to novels much so when I take time to read fiction I'd like it to be with my while. Sadly this was not.

The Moms eBook Melissa Leddy Bethany Starin Reviews

Y. Vargas's review said it all. Looking for a quick entertaining read? "The Moms" is a good choice.
This was a quick read that left me wanting more. The characters were relatable and I'd love to see them continue their stories. There is so much left untold in each story line and I hope we see them again someday.
The character development and back-and-forth-between-characters structure of this book made it an interesting summer (or anytime) read. (I just happened to finish it over the Fourth of July weekend.) As a mom myself, I definitely related to the different women in the story, although their lives are a bit juicier than mine! I hope Leddy writes more books like this in the future because I certainly could've kept reading this one.
This story jumps right in to the lives of your neighborhood moms and friends in a sort of behind-the-scenes dramatic life of young moms and their relationships. The author throws in relevant and witty curltural references that make you laugh and give you that "I know exactly what you mean" feeling. The novella moves quick and before you know it, she's left you wanting more. I really enjoyed this novella and I'm not even a mom but it was so well written and a blast to read.
A quick, enjoyable read. Would love to see these characters in a full length novel.
Really nice read.
